Policy-related

1. Is my unused No Claim Discount (NCD) Protector benefit transferable to other insurer?

No. NCD that is protected under NCD Protector benefit is not transferable to other insurers. Your protected NCD will only apply on your car insurance policy with AIG.

2. What happens to my NCD after a claim?

For each at fault claim your NCD will be reduced by 30%.

If you have the NCD Protector benefit, your NCD will not be reduced after the first claim in the policy year. Every subsequent claim(s) within the policy year will reduce your NCD by 30%.

Note: Your protected NCD will only apply if you renew your car insurance policy with AIG. If you switch insurer, your true NCD (without NCD Protector) after any at-fault claims will be applied.

3. Will I receive a refund if I cancel my car insurance mid-term?

Yes, you will receive a refund of 80% of the premium less a prorated amount to cover the period when you were covered under the policy. The formula to calculate the refund is:

Premium refund = No. of remaining days of coverage / No. of days in original period of insurance x Premium payable x 80%

You will receive a cheque for the refund within 4 to 6 weeks after the cancellation is complete. However, we will not be able to provide you with a refund if, on or before the cancellation of your policy:

  • claim as arisen;
  • the original certificate of insurance has not been sent to us, or
  • the premium due has not been paid

4. Which countries are covered under my car insurance policy?

Your car insurance policy covers Singapore and Malaysia and up to 80.5 km of the border between West Malaysia and Thailand.

5. Can I change the age condition of my policy mid-term?

You can change the “all age condition” once during the mid-term of your policy (subject to no claims on the policy). However, this is not applicable for Named Driver policies or policies with age restrictions.

6. What will happen if a driver outside the age condition gets into an accident while driving my car?

Your car insurance policy will not cover the damages to your car if a driver outside the age condition is involved in an accident.

7. Is flood damage covered under my car insurance policy? Will my NCD be affected in the event of flood damage?

Yes, flood damage is covered. Your NCD will not be affected if you make a claim for flood damage. However, you are obligated to take all reasonable steps to prevent your vehicle from further loss or damage – any such damage will be excluded.
