Make a Private Settlement
A private settlement is a resolution of the accident between the drivers without involving the insurers. The settlement may result in one party paying the other or both parties agreeing not to claim from each other.
Why opt for a private settlement
You can maintain a clean claims record by opting for a private settlement with the other party. This would mean that you can continue to enjoy your current No Claims Discount and standard premium on your policy renewal.
How to make a private settlement
Send your vehicle to one of our authorised workshops or any of the workshops listed on your certificate of insurance.
Both parties should complete and sign the Mutual Settlement Form for Motor Accident.
If cash payment is involved for the settlement, the recipient has to acknowledge receipt of the amount.
Submit the completed form to AIG.
