EPHCI's building coverage supplements your HDB Fire Insurance policy or its equivalent policy. This means that in the event of an insured peril, you must first make a claim under HDB Fire Insurance or its equivalent before claiming under EPHCI for building cover. We will reimburse you the balance of the loss or damage that is not claimable under your HDB Fire Insurance or its equivalent  policy.

There is no difference in the premium across the different HDB flat types.

EPHCI is a packaged plan and does not provide for an increase to the sum insured through additional premium payments. For other home insurance plans that provide this flexibility, please contact your agent/broker or click here to email us.

To speak to our customer service representatives, please call us at 6419 3000.

If you are moving to another HDB flat, simply inform us in writing and we will update your address in the policy schedule. However, if you are moving to a private apartment, landed home or condominium, please contact us to change your policy as EPHCI only covers HDB flats.

To make a claim, you will need to submit a completed claims form.

Depending on the type of claim, you may be required to provide supporting documents such as original receipts of items that are lost or damaged, an estimate of repair costs and photographs of the damage, or police report (if applicable). More information on the type of documents to be submitted for making a claim can be found here.

Homes Advantage FAQs

As a general guideline, your building cover should be based on the cost of rebuilding the damaged or destroyed building. You should maintain a sum insured at not less than the full cost of replacement, without depreciation value for wear and tear. A building replacement value table can be found in the application form to assist you with this.

At the time of loss, if the sum insured is lower than the cost of reinstatement or replacement, the amount payable for the claim will be reduced proportionately.

Yes, if you take up the worldwide personal effects cover. This covers personal belongings that you are physically carrying or wearing, even when you are overseas. However, it does not cover cash or its equivalent and any personal belongings or contents at your residence.

As this is a homeowners' policy, personal effects and other additional coverage are not available for purchase independently. You will need to insure your home contents to take up the personal effect cover.

Items worth less than $10,000 per article need not be itemised. However, for items worth more than $10,000 per article, you will need to provide us with an  inventory list indicating the sum insured that you would like to cover for each article, together with a valid receipt or valuation.

In the event of a claim, you will need to complete our claims form and provide proof of ownership as well as the item’s receipt and valuation if these were not provided at the point of application.

You have repair benefits of up to $2,000 in any one policy period. Our appointed repairer will repair your kitchen or home appliance if it is damaged due to mechanical or electrical failure.

To be eligible for cover, the appliance must be between 1 and 5 years old from the original date of purchase at the time of claim and must not be covered under a manufacturer’s warranty or any other warranty.

Premier Client Solutions FAQs

The coverage of a homeowner’s insurance policy should be based on the cost to rebuild a place of residence from scratch, but many incorrectly believe that it should reflect the property’s market value.

Jewellery is a unique asset: while the intrinsic financial value of a piece is obvious, the sentimental value of an item, like your wedding ring, heirloom earrings or the watch you bought to mark a personal milestone, may not be easily quantifiable.

Most of us are spending more of our time online, including interacting with others via social media. Unfortunately, the interconnectedness of the digital world can also leave you open to significant risks.

Better protection doesn’t always have to mean a higher price tag. In addition to offering competitive pricing, AIG offers a number of ways for you to better manage the costs associated with buying insurance protection. Under Premier Client Solutions, you can choose from a range of deductible options, up to $100,000. Assuming more up-front risk may reduce your annual premium, and we recognise that many of our clients prefer to handle minor damage themselves rather than submit a claim.

In addition, here are some other factors that can help:

  • Paying your insurance premium by monthly credit card instalments. This will help to defray the initial upfront payment as the premium is spread out over a period of time.
  • Selecting a homeowner’s insurance deductible of $2,500 or more
  • Having protection devices in your home (such as a central station burglar and fire alarm)
  • Listing down your prized possessions in your policy

Your independent insurance advisor can help you determine which policy credits or savings opportunities apply to you.
